a serious wacko
Tuesday, April 4
today i met the most weird person i've ever met. he's even worse than darren of 1.13, and that means a lot.
so anyway i was at raffles place inter-change waiting for the NS mrt to arrive when there was this secondary student who was standing in front of the glass doors waiting for the mrt too. he was talking to himself...
so the mrt came, and everyone rushed in and grabbed the first seat they could find. better a bad one than none that's what i usually think. it just so happened that i was seated to the guy who had been talking to himself. at first i thought it was just once in a while, talking to himself to memorise lines or something, but as the mrt went nearer and nearer to bishan, he started talking louder and louder, and with each sentence he spoke the more nonsensical is was. it was rather obvious that he was slightly out of his mind. i tried to pull my thoughts back to the agatha christie book i was reading and tried channel out his never ending chants of 'eheh, kopi...heh COFFee...kopikopi...eheh cofFEE...koPI!' and sometimes 'open, close. open, close' with his hands in the air doing the action.
the noise he made grew louder and louder and i found it impossible to concentrate on my book. still making my face look at the book, i looked at the people around me by moving my eyeballs around, resting on each person in my scope of view. lots of people kept throwing glances at him as though afriad as to what absurd thing he might do next. the most obvious action which she took no trouble to hide was an old lady sitting next to me slowly edging as far away from him as possible and sitting on the edge of the seat, continually staring at him.
i tried to guess which school he was from and how old he might be. he was wearing long pants which had to mean he was in upper sec. the colour of his uniform matched that of ACS. i tried to look for any scrap of evidence to show that he wasnt embarassing our school, and i looked at the poor reflection of the plastic board. the only thing i managed to see was that he was wearing a circular collar pin. i didnt get to see the badge which would be at the pocket area so i just tried to convince myself that he wasnt an ACSian based on the collar pin.
as we slowed down to a stop at bradell stop, i suddenly became conscious of him laughing retardedly. i looked at him from the corner of my eye, realising he was actually leaning towards me, peering at my shoulder and reading my book! wht made things weird was the fact that there was nothing funny to laugh about on that page or at any other part of the book. i pulled the book covers closer together hoping to stop him from reading, only to have him lean closer to me in effort to read. so i closed the book, and he even tried to open it again! i was getting alarmed.
i edged closer to the elderly woman and hastily kept the book in my bag. then out of the blue, he extended his body and put his mouth close to my ear and made a sound which is hard to put in alphabets, but the closest i can get to it is 'eeeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhh!'. i moved my head quickly towards the shocked elderly lady, whose eyes had widened. thank goodness no part of him made contact with me when he did that...
then we were nearing bishan. to my horror, he was getting off too! he made his way to the wrong door and waited there. what is wrong with him??? low IQ? i seized the oppurtunity and wove through the standing passengers to the correct door. the mrt came to a halt and i quickly rushed out, in effort to put as much distance between me and the guy as possible. thank goodness that was the last i saw of him. what a really weird experience...
